WEREWOLF BY NIGHT #4 CGC 9.8 WHITE PAGES 1973 MARVEL MIKE PLOOG HIGHEST GRADE
Item description from the seller
This early issue from Jack Russell’s original solo series features a Gerry Conway story with Mike Ploog and Frank Bolle artwork and a classic Mike Ploog cover. Ploog’s distinctive horror artwork is one of the defining elements of Marvel’s early-1970s supernatural era, and this action-filled cover is a terrific example of his work on the title.
The real attraction here is the extraordinary 9.8 grade. Finding Bronze Age books in 9.8 is always challenging, but early Werewolf by Night issues are particularly desirable in elite condition because of the series’ importance to Marvel’s horror revival and the popularity of Ploog’s artwork. The White Pages further enhance this premium collector-grade example.
The book has excellent visual presentation, with bright cover colors, sharp edges and a remarkably clean appearance for a comic more than 50 years old.
Please note: the CGC holder itself has a tiny chip at the upper-left corner, as clearly shown in the additional photograph. The chip is very minor and is to the plastic holder and does not change the book’s certified CGC 9.8 grade. We have photographed the affected area closely so buyers can see the exact condition of the case before purchasing.
For the serious Werewolf by Night, Marvel Horror, Mike Ploog or high-grade Bronze Age collector, this is a superb example of an early issue from the run in virtually unimprovable numerical grade.
