TALES OF SUSPENSE #63 CGC 8.5 1965 1ST SILVER AGE CAPTAIN AMERICA ORIGIN KEY
Item description from the seller
Published by Marvel Comics in March 1965, this issue comes from the early period following Captain America’s historic return in Avengers #4. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby were reestablishing Cap for a new generation of readers, and this issue revisits his World War II beginnings and the origin that would remain central to the character for decades.
The book features a Stan Lee story with Jack Kirby artwork, along with Don Heck, Frank Giacoia and Dick Ayers, and a classic Kirby/Heck/Giacoia cover prominently featuring Captain America. Iron Man also stars in the issue’s second feature.
This is an especially attractive high-grade example, professionally certified by CGC at 8.5 VF+ with Off-White to White Pages. For a 1965 Marvel key, an 8.5 represents a genuinely strong collector-grade copy, and this example has excellent visual appeal with a bright red cover and strong presentation inside the CGC holder.
Beyond simply being another early Captain America appearance, Tales of Suspense #63 occupies an important place in Cap’s Silver Age history. It helped establish his origin for Marvel’s new generation of readers and came during the formative run that ultimately led to Captain America taking over the title with Captain America #100.
An excellent choice for a Captain America, Jack Kirby, Silver Age Marvel or key-issue collection.
